The Mahindra Treo Plus 2073 HRT is the metal-body version of India's best-selling electric auto. At an ex-showroom price of ₹ 3.78 lakh, it costs ₹9,000 more than the flex-canopy Treo Plus 2073 SFT variant. And almost every rupee of that gap is justified if you spend any part of the year driving through heavy rain.

Launched in April 2024 after years of customer feedback, the HRT brings full sheet-metal construction, a more car-like cabin, and one perk Mahindra doesn't bundle with the SFT variant — the UDAY programme's ₹10 lakh accident insurance cover. Here's the full picture.

The Mahindra Treo Plus 2073 HRT is priced at ₹3.78 lakh ex-showroom. On-road price lands around ₹4.13 lakh in most cities after RTO registration, road tax, insurance, and dealer handling.

States running active EV subsidies cut into that figure. Delhi's draft EV Policy 2026 brings the effective on-road price to roughly ₹3.30 lakh — before the ₹25,000 scrappage incentive if you're trading in an old CNG auto.

Monthly EMI on the on-road price runs around ₹7,300 over 60 months at 10.5% interest, with about ₹38,000 down. Mahindra Finance, Cholamandalam, and Tata Capital are the standard lender options.

Mahindra Treo Plus 2073 HRT Specifications

Everything mechanical is shared with the rest of the Treo Plus range. A 10.24 kWh lithium-ion battery — biggest in the segment — paired with an 8 kW motor that delivers 42 Nm of peak torque.

Real-world range is 150 km on a single charge (167 km ARAI certified). A full charge takes 4.5 hours on the 15A off-board charger. Top speed is capped at 55 km/h. Gradeability is 12°.

D+3 seating, same 2073 mm wheelbase as the SFT, same 465 mm passenger legroom and 345 mm driver legroom. Hill Hold Assist, Economy and Boost driving modes, NEMO driver app, lockable glove box, 12V mobile socket, and bright cabin lights.

Hydraulic drum brakes front and rear. Helical-spring front suspension with hydraulic shock absorber. Rigid axle leaf-spring rear. Ground clearance 142 mm, turning radius 2.9 m. Standard 3.75 × 12 commercial tyres.

A full metal body changes four things in real-world use.

The UDAY Programme: Don't Skip This

The HRT qualifies for Mahindra's UDAY programme, which bundles a ₹10 lakh accident insurance cover for the first year of ownership. The SFT doesn't get this.

The market value of that cover is roughly ₹3,000–4,000 in premium terms, which closes the price gap between the two variants by a third. Most dealers won't mention UDAY automatically. Ask for it in writing during your booking — the dealer needs to register your purchase under the programme at the time of delivery.

Why Mahindra Launched the HRT in April 2024

For six years, the Mahindra Treo Plus only came with the flex-canopy roof. Then customer feedback piled up — drivers in Mumbai's monsoon, Kolkata's humid summers, Chennai's coastal rain, all asking for the same thing. A proper metal body.

Mahindra responded with the HRT in April 2024. The chassis stayed the same. The mechanics stayed the same. What changed was the body shell, full sheet metal replacing the flex canopy, with the structural reinforcement, weather sealing, and added weight that comes with it.

The metal body adds some weight, which trims real-world range by a few km over a full day. Most drivers won't notice. Most accountants will say it's worth it.

Who Should Buy the Mahindra Treo Plus 2073 HRT?

Buy the HRT if your city sees three or more months of heavy monsoon rain — Mumbai, Pune, Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru, Cochin. The body lasts longer, repairs come less often, and resale at year 4 will reward you.

Buy it if you're running a passenger-focused operation where cabin feel matters. App-based driving (Uber Auto, Rapido) does better with the more car-like HRT cabin.

Buy it if you want the UDAY ₹10 lakh insurance cover thrown in.
