Ashok Leyland Partner 6 Tyre 2820/FSD/11 ft vs Similar Trucks
Expert Review
Ashok Leyland Partner 6 Tyre 2820/FSD/11 ft Review
Trucks usually cost more as they get more capable. The Partner 6 Tyre range works the other way around. Its cheapest variant carries the heaviest load, and this is that variant. Whether that suits you depends on one thing: what your cargo weighs against what it occupies.
Ashok Leyland Partner 6 Tyre 11 Feet Payload
Take the numbers apart.
Kerb weight is 2,605 kg. GVW is 7,490 kg. Subtract, and 4,885 kg is left. That is exactly the rated payload of the Ashok Leyland Partner 6 Tyre 2820/FSD/11 ft. The arithmetic closes with nothing missing.
Now look at the rest of the range. The box-body 11-footer, on the same wheelbase and the same body length, is rated at 4,579 kg. The 17-footer, also box-bodied, is rated at 4,579 kg. The 14-foot fixed-deck sits at 4,775 kg.
Every kilogram of body is a kilogram you cannot load. A box body costs you 306 kg. Six extra feet of deck cost you 110 kg.
So the entry-level variant of the Partner 6 Tyre is also its payload leader, by over 300 kg against the box-bodied trucks that cost more. No dealer will lead with it.
If weight is what limits your loads, and it usually is on cement, steel, tiles, grain, fertiliser or packed produce, this is the Partner you want.
Ashok Leyland Partner 6 Tyre 2820/FSD/11 ft Engine, Brakes and Gradeability
The ZD30 DDTi is a 2,953cc four-cylinder diesel producing 140 hp at 2,750 rpm and 360 Nm between 1,350 and 2,750 rpm. Ignore any source describing it as a three-cylinder Z Series or an H-series i-GEN6 unit. Both are wrong.
The gearbox is a five-speed manual driving through a 310 mm single dry plate clutch. Top speed is capped at 80 km/h.
Braking is vacuum-assisted hydraulic, not air, with a transmission-mounted cable parking brake. At 7,490 kg gross that is adequate rather than generous. ABS is not fitted.
Gradeability is 25 percent. Loaded to 4,885 kg on a real gradient, you will be in second gear. Anyone quoting this truck as ideal for hilly routes has not driven it full.
The short 2,820 mm wheelbase gives a 5,700 mm turning radius, and overall length is only 5,170 mm. In a market lane or a tight loading yard, this is the easiest truck in the range to place.
Deck Body or Box Body: What the FSD Actually Changes
The fixed side deck does two things beyond saving 306 kg.
It drops the truck's overall height to 2,240 mm, against 2,832 mm for the box-bodied version. That is nearly 60 centimetres, and it is the difference between clearing a basement dock or a low factory gate and turning around at it.
It also opens the load up. You can crane or forklift cargo in from the side or the top rather than shoulder it through a rear door, which cuts turnaround time on a busy yard.
What you give up is weather protection and cargo security. An open deck needs tarpaulins and honest drivers. If you move electronics, pharmaceuticals or anything a tarpaulin will not protect, buy the box body and accept the 306 kg penalty.
Ashok Leyland Partner 6 Tyre Mileage and Running Cost
Ashok Leyland claims 8.5 kmpl, split into 7 to 8 kmpl in the city and 8 to 9 kmpl on the highway. The 9 to 11 kmpl figures circulating on listing sites, including on this page today, have no basis in the official data.
That 8.5 kmpl is the truck's weakest number, and it deserves to be said plainly. The Eicher Pro 2050 and the SML Isuzu Prestige GS both claim 11 kmpl in the same price band. Over 60,000 km a year, the Partner burns roughly 1,600 litres more diesel. Multiply by your pump price and decide whether 2,400 kg of extra payload is worth it.
A 90-litre tank gives around 765 km on a fill. Warranty runs for three years or three lakh kilometres., whichever comes first. ZD30 spares move fast because the engine is common to every Partner 6 Tyre. Budget separately for tyres, since the 7.50x16, 16PR set is tube type.
Ashok Leyland Partner 6 Tyre 11 Feet Price in 2026, On-Road Cost and Who Should Buy
The Ashok Leyland Partner 6 Tyre 11 feet price starts at ₹13.85 lakh ex-showroom, the entry point to the whole range. Add road tax, registration, first-year commercial insurance, permit and fitness, and budget ₹80,000 to ₹1.6 lakh on top. Estimated on-road: ₹14.7 lakh to ₹15.4 lakh, varying by state. On finance, ten percent down at 10.5 percent over five years comes to about ₹26,800 a month.
Buy this truck if you are weight-limited and cost-sensitive. Nothing near ₹14 lakh carries 4,885 kg. The SML Isuzu Prestige GS undercuts it by ₹16,000 and carries 1,305 kg less.
Look elsewhere if fuel is your biggest line item, or if your cargo needs a sealed body. The Eicher Pro 2050 does 11 kmpl for ₹1.11 lakh more, though it carries 2,423 kg less. And the box-body 11-footer is the same truck with a roof, 306 kg less payload, and 592 mm more height.
