For thousands of people in Uttar Pradesh, they don’t necessarily have to have a guarantor for a Piaggio vehicle loan. Nor do they have to pay the interest rates they can’t afford.

If you are planning to get a new auto, this MoU signed between Piaggio and SBI can completely change your financial planning.

What Piaggio and SBI Just Signed

To finance three-wheelers under the state's CM Yuva Yojana, Piaggio Vehicles has signed an MoU with the State Bank of India's Lucknow circle. The deal plugs into SBI's 1,600-plus branches across central and eastern UP and covers Piaggio's full lineup, both electric and petrol or diesel autos.

The loans flow through the CM Yuva Yojana and Mudra schemes, built to push young people into self-employment. The CM Yuva Yojana aims to turn 10 lakh young people across the state into business owners, and a cheap auto is one of the fastest ways in.

Here's where it gets real for you. If you're between 25 and 40, you can get an interest-free loan backed by a government subsidy. The bank funds 85 to 90% of the vehicle cost, gives you four years to repay, and asks for no guarantor.

The Number That Changes Everything

That no-guarantor part matters more than it sounds. Most first-time buyers get stuck because no bank will lend without security or a co-signer. This skips both.

Now the math. A Piaggio Ape E City costs around ₹2.84 lakh. Finance about ₹2.5 lakh the usual way, at roughly 10.5% over four years, and the interest alone runs close to ₹57,000. Under this scheme, that number is zero. Think a spare battery, months of charging, or straight profit back in your pocket.

That Ape E City returns about 110 km on a full charge and seats a driver plus three, enough for daily city runs. Go electric and the sums get sweeter still, since an e-auto costs far less to run per kilometre than a petrol one.

But Who Qualifies, and What's Your Move?

The scheme targets young entrepreneurs, so you'll need to meet the CM Yuva Yojana criteria and apply through the right channel. Piaggio says it will open dedicated CM Yuva Help Centres at its UP dealerships to handle the paperwork and onboarding for you.

So if an auto is your first shot at a business, the move is simple. Walk into a Piaggio dealership in UP, ask for the CM Yuva Help Centre, and check your eligibility before you sign any other loan.

One catch worth noting. Only the Lucknow circle is wired in for now. Watch how fast SBI clears applications, because word spreads quickly on deals like this.

Piaggio holds about 7% of India's three-wheeler market today, well behind Bajaj. A zero-interest push in UP is exactly how it plans to close that gap, and getting in early beats waiting in a queue later.
