The commercial vehicle sector in India is showing strong growth. Sales in November 2025 jumped nearly 20% compared to the same month last year. This growth is fueled by infrastructure projects and tourism-related transport demand.

HCV and LCV Sales Lead the Growth

All major segments saw positive yearly growth. Heavy Commercial Vehicle (HCV) sales grew by over 17%. Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) sales increased by 18.5%. The Medium Commercial Vehicle (MCV) segment showed the strongest surge, growing by an impressive 45% year-on-year.

Diesel Fuel Continues to Dominate in CV Market

Despite the push for cleaner fuels, diesel remains king. It holds over 81% of the commercial vehicle market share. CNG/LPG vehicles make up about 12% of sales. Electric commercial vehicles, while growing, still represent a small 1.8% share of the total market.

Urban and Rural Markets Both Contribute

Growth was balanced across the country. Sales in urban areas grew by about 23% compared to last November. Rural areas also saw healthy growth of over 17%. This shows widespread economic activity driving demand for transport.

Infrastructure and Tourism Provide Support

Industry experts point to specific drivers. Government infrastructure projects are creating freight movement. Increased tourism mobility is also boosting demand. These factors helped the sector defy the usual post-festive season slowdown.

A Cautiously Optimistic Outlook for 2026

The near-term future looks promising. The strong start to the winter crop season is improving rural sentiment. Ongoing government policies and expected new model launches are building confidence. Most dealers are optimistic about growth continuing into the new year.

A Resilient Sector on the Move

The 20% sales jump is a clear sign of a robust commercial vehicle market. It reflects underlying economic strength and investment in key sectors like infrastructure. For truck makers and buyers alike, the road ahead appears busy.
