Mahindra Says No Communication from Indonesia on Import Suspension

Mahindra & Mahindra has clarified that it has not received any official communication from the Indonesian government regarding a suspension of its vehicle import orders. The clarification follows media reports suggesting that Indonesia may halt imports of 105,000 vehicles from Tata Motors and Mahindra pending discussions between the government and lawmakers.
Export Order Remains Unchanged with Advance Payment Received
Mahindra stated that its export order of 35,000 light commercial vehicles to Indonesia remains unchanged. The company has already received an advance payment for the delivery. The purchase order was received from Agrinas Pangan Nusantara, an Indonesian state-owned enterprise, for deployment under the country's Koperasi Desa/Kelurahan Merah Putih project aimed at strengthening rural supply chains.
No Official Intimation Received from Indonesian Authorities
"The company has not received any further intimation or communication from Indonesia about the suspension of the order for the supply of vehicles," Mahindra said in a clarification to stock exchanges. The company referred to its February 4, 2026 announcement regarding its largest-ever export order.
Vehicles to Support Rural Cooperatives in Indonesia
Under the partnership, Mahindra and Agrinas Pangan Nusantara will equip rural cooperatives with Scorpio Pik Up vehicles. These are designed to transport agricultural produce efficiently from farms to marketplaces. The initiative aims to improve rural logistics infrastructure and enable villages to become local economic centers.
Exports Key Part of Mahindra's Growth Strategy
Exports form a key part of Mahindra's growth strategy in the light commercial vehicle segment, particularly across emerging markets in Asia, Africa, and Latin America. The 35,000-unit order exceeds Mahindra's total export volumes achieved in FY25.
