Mahindra to Build Largest Auto & Tractor Plant in Maharashtra

Mahindra Group has announced plans to establish its largest integrated manufacturing facility in Nagpur, Maharashtra. The company will invest ₹15,000 crore over 10 years. Production is scheduled to start in 2028.
New Facility to Produce 5 Lakh Vehicles and 1 Lakh Tractors Annually
The state-of-the-art plant will be developed across 1,500 acres in Vidarbha. Once fully operational, it will have an annual production capacity of over 5 lakh vehicles and 1 lakh tractors. This will be Mahindra's largest integrated manufacturing footprint in India.
Supplier Park to Strengthen Manufacturing Value Chain
A 150-acre supplier park will be established in Sambhajinagar. It will supply components to the new Nagpur facility and existing plants at Chakan and Nashik. This will improve logistics efficiency and enhance localisation.
Facility to Manufacture Multiple Powertrains Including EV
The automotive facility will support Mahindra's next-generation platforms, including the NU_IQ architecture. It will manufacture vehicles across multiple powertrains: ICE, EV, and future technologies. The plant will feature advanced automation and digital manufacturing systems.
Vidarbha Region Offers Strategic Advantages
The Vidarbha region provides excellent road connectivity via the Samruddhi Expressway and robust rail links. It offers easy access to key domestic and export markets. The rapidly evolving industrial ecosystem supports this major investment.
Mahindra to Expand Capacity in Igatpuri-Nashik Region
Mahindra will also acquire land in the Igatpuri-Nashik region. This will expand current product and engine capacities. It will also support the growth of Mahindra's Advanced Technology business.
Investment to Generate Significant Employment
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated that this investment will generate significant employment. It will accelerate regional development in Vidarbha and surrounding areas. The project reinforces Maharashtra's position as a leading manufacturing hub.
