Commercial vehicle owners in Noida can now opt for a one-time tax payment. The new system replaces quarterly, half-yearly, or annual payments. It applies to vehicles with unladen weight up to 7,500 kg.

Tax Fixed at Around 10% of Vehicle Value

The one-time tax is approximately 10% of the vehicle's cost. Rates vary by vehicle type and value. The change aims to curb revenue losses from non-payment. It also spares owners from penalties for missed instalments.

Category-Wise Tax Rates Announced

Two-wheelers used for commercial purposes will pay 12.5% of vehicle cost. Three-wheelers will be charged at 7%. Four-wheeler commercial vehicles costing up to ₹10 lakh will be taxed at 10.5%. Those costing more than ₹10 lakh will attract 12.5% tax.

Goods vehicles with GVW up to 3,000 kg will pay 3%. Those with GVW between 3,000 kg and 7,500 kg will be taxed at 6%.

New System Benefits Vehicle Owners

Assistant Regional Transport Officer Nand Kumar stated that the new system relieves operators from repeated tax payments. It also protects them from penalties imposed due to delayed or non-payment. The system creates a simpler, more predictable taxation framework.

Many Commercial Vehicles Previously Defaulted on Payments

Around 12 lakh vehicles are registered with the Noida transport department. This includes 3,156 commercial motorcycles, 19,800 cabs, 29,852 goods carriers, 28,000 autos, 4,548 buses, and 10,873 tractors. Officials noted that many commercial vehicles often defaulted on periodic tax payments, leading to disputes and enforcement action.

Statewide Transport Fairs to Address Owner Queries

Uttar Pradesh is hosting transport fairs at all district RTOs on February 20-21, 2026. Officials will address doubts on tax calculations, payments, and registrations. The new system is now live on the vehicle portal for digital payments.
