Tata LPT trucks price starts from the 4-tyre Tata 710 LPT at ₹16.32 lakh to the 10-wheel Tata LPT 4830 at nearly ₹51 lakh. All current models are BS6 Phase 2 compliant. Which matters if you're buying in 2026, because non-compliant vehicles cannot be registered.

Tata Motors holds roughly 45–50% of India's medium and heavy commercial vehicle market share. The LPT series is the main reason for that. Ashok Leyland, Eicher, and BharatBenz compete here too, but no other Indian manufacturer matches Tata's LPT variant depth across this GVW range.

The Tata LPT price range in India starts at about ₹ 16.32 lakh for smaller light variants like the 710 LPT. The most expensive LPT model goes up to around ₹ 48.80 lakh for big haulage trucks such as the LPT 4832. Prices below are ex-showroom. Models: Tata 710 LPT, Tata 712 LPT, Tata 709g LPT (CNG).

Who this is for: e-commerce last-mile, FMCG distribution in congested city areas, gas cylinder rounds. The 4-tyre configuration fits narrower lanes. Fuel cost per km is the lowest in the LPT family.

Medium Commercial (GVW 10T–20T) — Regional Haulage Workhorse

Models: Tata 1112, 1212, 1512, 1616, 1816 LPT. Also available in CNG variants: 1109g, 1412g, 1612g.

Real payload: 6,000–12,000 kg depending on model.

Who this is for: construction material movement (sand, rods, cement), agricultural produce, inter-city logistics on established routes. The 1512 LPT is the bestseller in this segment. It hits the sweet spot of payload, fuel efficiency, and body length options.

Heavy Commercial (GVW 20T+) — Long-Haul and Bulk Freight

Models: Tata LPT 2823, 3125, 3525, LPT 4825, 4830.

Real payload: 15,000–30,000 kg depending on model and body type.

Who this is for: manufacturing logistics, coal and iron ore movement, long-distance full-truck-load freight. The LPT 3525 with 250 HP and 35T GVW is the go-to for operators running 500+ km routes.

In practice, though, the financing profile changes significantly at this segment — banks look harder at operator experience and existing fleet size for loans above ₹35 lakh.

Tata LPT Mileage — What You'll Actually Get on the Road

Published mileage numbers are best-case figures. Here's a more honest picture:

• Diesel LPTs (light segment, 7–12T GVW): 7–9 km/l on good roads, half-load. Drop to 5–6 km/l fully loaded on highway; 3–4 km/l in city stop-start.

• Diesel LPTs (medium/heavy, 14T+ GVW): 5–7 km/l half-load highway. Realistic city figure: 2–4 km/l.

• CNG LPTs: 5–9 km/kg depending on model and load. CNG costs roughly ₹80–90/kg in most metros vs ₹95–105/l for diesel, which closes the mileage gap on pure cost-per-km.

The mileage variability is a bit odd when you think about it: the same Tata 1512 LPT doing Mumbai–Pune fully loaded will return 4.5 km/l; the same truck half-loaded on NH48 will touch 6.5 km/l. Route matters as much as the truck.

CNG vs Diesel Tata LPT — A Practical Comparison

CNG variants exist across the LPT range: 709g, 809g, 1009g, 1109g, 1412g, 1612g, 1812g. The CNG option is worth it when: 

(a) Your route is urban or within 200 km, 

(b) Your base has a CNG station within 50 km, and 

(c) You're running 200+ km/day.

Diesel wins when: routes are interstate with unreliable CNG infrastructure, when loads regularly push the vehicle to near GVW, or when you operate in states with highway CNG gaps.

Over a 5-year period at 1,000 km/week, a CNG LPT typically saves ₹1.5–2L per year in fuel compared to diesel equivalent. The higher upfront cost (CNG variants are ₹1–3L more) pays back in year 2 for urban operators.

Tata LPT On-Road Price Breakdown — What You're Actually Paying

Example: Tata 1512 LPT, ex-showroom Maharashtra ≈ ₹23.40L.

• RTO registration (Maharashtra): approximately ₹2.8–3.2L for a diesel commercial vehicle

• First-year insurance (commercial vehicle): ₹40,000–65,000 depending on coverage

• Accessories (mudflaps, body paint, toolbox): ₹15,000–40,000

• Total on-road: approximately ₹27–29.5L

RTO charges vary sharply by state. Rajasthan is lower than Maharashtra. Delhi has different rules for CNG vehicles. If you're registering in a border district, confirm with your dealer which state's RTO applies.

And one more thing: the April 2026 Tata CV price revision of up to 1.5% applies to ex-showroom only. RTO and insurance are recalculated on the new ex-showroom base.

LPT Body Length Options — Match Platform to Route

The LPT range supports multiple body lengths: 18ft, 20ft, 24ft, 30ft, 30.5ft, and 32ft. This isn't cosmetic — it directly affects which loading docks, mandis, and warehouses you can serve.

• 18–20ft: City operation. Fits into urban loading bays and most mandi gates.

• 24ft: The most common regional choice. Balances volume and manoeuvrability.

• 30–32ft: Long-haul, high-volume runs. Not suitable for city lanes or low-clearance bridges.

• Multi-Mode Drive Switches: available on higher-tonnage models, allow torque profile adjustment for different terrain.

• Low CRR (Rolling Resistance) tyres: standard on many LPT variants — contributes to the 7–9% fuel saving claim over earlier-generation tyres.

• BS6 Phase 2 compliance: all 2026 LPT models use SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) technology for NOx control. This adds approximately ₹40,000–60,000 to the cost vs earlier BS4 equivalents but is mandatory for registration.

Tata LPT Maintenance Cost & Service Network

First service: typically 5,000–10,000 km or 3 months. Whichever comes first. Tata's authorised service network covers 1,500+ touchpoints across India. If you operate in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, this is a real advantage over some competitors.

Annual maintenance cost (medium LPT, 1,000–1,200 km/week): ₹60,000–1,00,000 for scheduled servicing and wear parts. Tyres are the largest variable — a set of 6 tyres on a 1512 LPT costs ₹80,000–1,10,000 depending on brand.

Weirdly enough, the biggest maintenance cost difference between CNG and diesel LPTs isn't the engine — it's the CNG kit inspection and cylinder pressure testing, which adds ₹8,000–12,000 per year.

Commercial vehicle loans typically run 5–7 years at 10–12% per annum (SBI, HDFC, Axis rates vary). The down payment requirement is usually 20–25%.
