Tata Motors to Hike Commercial Vehicle Prices 1.5% from April 1

Tata Motors has announced a price hike across its commercial vehicle range. The increase will be up to 1.5% and takes effect from 1st April 2026. Tata announced a regulatory filing on March 16.
Why Tata Motors Has Hiked the Price of CVs
The price increase is aimed at partially offsetting the impact of rising commodity prices and other input costs. Tata Motors said the hike is necessary to manage cost pressures across its commercial vehicle portfolio. The company has been facing higher input costs for nearly a year.
Passenger Vehicle Division Already Flagged Pressure
Earlier in February, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd shared plans to increase prices due to continued pressure from rising commodity costs. Shailesh Chandra, MD and CEO of TMPVL, said during a quarterly earnings call that the rise in commodity prices, especially precious metals and copper, has added pressure on the company's cost structure. He noted that the impact of commodity price increase has been about 2% plus of their revenues.
Industry-Wide Trend of Price Adjustments
Tata Motors joins several other automakers in revising prices. Luxury carmakers Audi and Mercedes-Benz have announced price hikes of up to 2% from April 1. Hyundai has already announced price increases, while Maruti Suzuki is evaluating a possible revision as cost pressures persist.
Price Hike Varies by Model and Variant
The extent of the increase will vary depending on the model and variant. Tata Motors stated this in its exchange filing, clarifying that the hike will differ across its commercial vehicle range.
Recent Orders Show Strong Market Momentum
Earlier this week, Tata Motors secured cumulative orders for more than 5,000 buses and bus chassis from multiple state transport undertakings across the country (click here for the reference article).
What This Means for YOU
If you are planning to purchase a truck or bus, the price increases when planning purchases from April onwards. The actual impact will depend on the specific model and variant they choose. The hike reflects broader cost pressures across the automotive industry that are pushing manufacturers to adjust prices.
