JSW has received ARAI approval for its first electric bus. The certification clears the way for production and rollout in India. This marks the group's official entry into the commercial vehicle segment.

ARAI Confirms Safety and Performance Standards

JSW secured the CMVR Type Approval Certificate from the Automotive Research Association (ARI) of India. This approval confirms that the JSW 12M 51+D AC SDX electric bus meets Central Motor Vehicle Rules for safety, performance, and regulatory standards. Type approval is mandatory for the homologation and commercial sale of vehicles in India for manufacturers.

Bus Designed for Urban and Intercity Operations

The JSW 12M 51+D AC SDX is a full-size, air-conditioned electric bus. The "51+D" configuration indicates seating for mass transit needs. It targets state transport undertakings and fleet operators seeking higher-capacity electric buses.

JSW Greentech to Lead Commercial Vehicle Push

JSW Greentech, the commercial vehicle arm, will oversee production. The company is focusing on advanced electric drivetrains, battery systems, and vehicle telematics. The goal is to improve uptime, reduce total cost of ownership, and support fleet efficiency.

Production Facility Coming Up in Maharashtra

The bus is expected to be produced at JSW's greenfield facility in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, Maharashtra. The plant has annual capacity for 10,000 electric buses and 5,000 electric trucks.

JSW Building Wider Mobility Business

JSW Green Mobility includes JSW Auto and JSW AutoComp, which oversee passenger vehicle operations and auto component manufacturing. The company is also developing a separate passenger vehicle business beyond its existing joint venture with China's SAIC Motor that operates JSW MG Motor India.
