SIAM 3-Wheeler Production and Sales Analysis January 2026

The Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers has released production and sales data for three-wheelers in January 2026. Total production reached 1,20,291 units, up 33.2% year-on-year. Domestic sales stood at 75,725 units, a 30.2% increase over January 2025. Exports grew 54.6% to 36,879 units.
Passenger Carrier Sales Jump 30.4%
Passenger auto rickshaws remain the largest segment. Production hit 1,04,256 units, up 32.9% from last year. Domestic sales reached 60,881 units, a 30.4% year-on-year increase. Exports in this segment surged 53% to 36,251 units.
Goods Carrier Sales Rise 33.4%
The goods carrier segment saw strong growth. Production increased 32.7% to 14,030 units. Domestic sales climbed 33.4% to 13,374 units. Exports skyrocketed 263% to 628 units compared to just 173 units last year.
E-Rickshaw Production Up but Sales Dip
E-rickshaw production jumped 81% to 1,412 units. However, domestic sales dropped 7.9% to 925 units from 1,004 units last year.
E-Cart Segment Shows Steady Growth
E-cart production grew 22.3% to 593 units. Domestic sales increased 18.5% to 545 units. This remains the smallest sub-segment in the three-wheeler market.
Total Market Performance
Combined domestic sales and exports reached 1,12,604 units in January 2026. Total production was 1,20,291 units. The export market contributed significantly with 36,879 units shipped overseas.
