ThunderPlus & EveyTrans to Build EV Charging Hub Near Vijayawada

ThunderPlus and Evey Trans have partnered to build a large EV charging hub near Vijayawada. The facility will come up on one acre of land at Kunchanapalli in Tadepalli. Total installed capacity will be 1.6 MW. This is one of the bigger EV infrastructure investments in Andhra Pradesh in recent months.
Facility Features Seven DC Fast Chargers
The hub will have seven DC fast chargers. It will also offer battery swapping infrastructure and fast charging stations for two-wheelers. The design can handle more than 50 electric buses at once. It can also serve over 100 electric cars simultaneously. That makes it one of the highest-capacity charging facilities in the state.
Integrated EV Operations Base Planned
This is not just a charging station. The site will include dedicated bus servicing and repair bays. Spare parts storage will be available. Driver rest and boarding facilities are part of the plan. A driver training area and vehicle washing and maintenance zones are also included. These additions aim to cut downtime for commercial fleet operators. Faster turnaround times mean more trips per day.
Location on Busy Hyderabad–Vijayawada Corridor
The Kunchanapalli location sits along the Hyderabad–Vijayawada corridor. This is one of South India's busiest intercity routes. It carries a mix of passenger buses, freight vehicles, and private traffic daily. The hub will serve electric buses running between Vijayawada and multiple parts of the country. Logistics operators and individual EV users making long journeys will also benefit.
ThunderPlus Views Partnership as Key Strategy
Rajeev YSR, ED and CEO of ThunderPlus, said the partnership fits their broader strategy. The company prefers developing charging infrastructure through collaborations rather than going solo. "Together, we are co-developing high-capacity ultra-fast charging hubs that add immense value to India's EV infrastructure landscape," he said.
Evey Trans Plans More Such Hubs
Sandeep Raizada, CEO of Evey Trans, indicated this is just the first of several facilities. "We are confident of developing several such high-capacity ultra-fast charging hubs across strategic cities and transport corridors," he said. The goal is to enable electric buses, trucks, passenger vehicles, and two-wheelers to fully leverage India's evolving EV infrastructure.
Evey Trans Operates Large Electric Bus Fleet
Evey Trans currently runs about 3,300 electric buses across more than 50 cities. The fleet spans seven states and two union territories. These buses cover over 800,000 kilometres daily. Reliable, high-capacity charging infrastructure is a major operational need, especially as routes extend across state borders and intercity distances.
ThunderPlus Expanding Network Nationwide
ThunderPlus has been growing its charging network across India. The company focuses on high-throughput locations like highways, freight corridors, and urban transit points. Partnerships with fleet operators are becoming a bigger part of their deployment model. Commercial vehicle operators need predictable charging access at scale, not just ad hoc public infrastructure.

Project Addresses Intercity Charging Gap
India's EV sector has seen more infrastructure investment over the past two years. Government policy incentives, falling battery costs, and growing adoption by state transport undertakings and private fleets have driven this. But long-distance and intercity EV travel has remained difficult due to limited fast-charging facilities outside major cities. Projects along busy corridors like Hyderabad–Vijayawada are seen as important for making intercity electric mobility work for commercial and private operators. The Kunchanapalli hub will help fill that gap along one of Andhra Pradesh's primary transport routes.
