Indian CV Market Share January 2026: Record 1.7 Lakh Units Sold

The Indian truck or commercial vehicle market recorded total retail sales of 1,07,486 units in January 2026. This represents a healthy 15.07% year-on-year growth over January 2025. Here is the brand-wise breakdown of market share.
Tata Motors Leads with 34.02% Market Share
Tata Motors Commercial Vehicles sold 36,571 units in January 2026. This is a 15.7% increase over 31,609 units sold in January 2025. Market share grew marginally from 33.84% to 34.02%. Tata Motors continues to hold the top position in the Indian commercial vehicle market.
Mahindra Holds Second Place with 29.49% Share
Mahindra & Mahindra sold 31,884 units in January 2026. This represents a 15.7% year-on-year growth over 27,550 units sold in January 2025. Market share remained steady at 29.49%. Mahindra is the second-largest player in the retail commercial vehicle segment.
Ashok Leyland Posts Strong 19.9% Growth
Ashok Leyland sold 19,205 units in January 2026. This is a significant 19.9% increase over 16,017 units sold in January 2025. Market share stands at 17.87%. Ashok Leyland retains its position as the third-largest commercial vehicle manufacturer in India.
VECV and Maruti Suzuki Show Steady Growth
Volvo Eicher Commercial Vehicles sold 8,078 units in January 2026. This is a 9.7% year-on-year increase. Market share is 7.52%. Maruti Suzuki sold 5,456 units, a 4.16% growth over last year. Its market share stands at 5.08%.
BharatBenz Grows While Force Motors Declines
BharatBenz sold 2,444 units in January 2026. This represents an 11.44% year-on-year increase. Market share is 2.27%. Force Motors sold 1,692 units, an 8.24% decline from January 2025. Its market share is 1.57%.
SML Isuzu Records Marginal Growth
SML Isuzu sold 919 units in January 2026. This is a modest 1.32% year-on-year increase. Market share is 0.85%. Other manufacturers collectively sold 1,237 units, up from 688 units last year.
All Segments Record Positive Growth
SCV (small commercial vehicle) sales grew 14.94% year-on-year. MCV (medium commercial vehicle) sales increased 18.87%. HCV (heavy commercial vehicle) sales rose 14.61%. Every commercial vehicle category posted healthy growth in January 2026.
