February was a strong month for three-wheelers. Passenger autos up 30%, exports up 49%, and e-rickshaw production more than doubled.

The Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) has released production and sales figures for three-wheeler vehicles in February 2026. Total production reached 1,08,154 units. This is a 29.9% increase over February 2025. Domestic sales stood at 74,573 units, up 29% year-on-year. Exports grew 49% to 38,766 units.

Passenger Carrier Segment Drives Production

The passenger carrier sub-segment remains the largest contributor. Production hit 92,514 units in February 2026, up 29% from last year. Domestic sales reached 60,013 units, a 30.1% year-on-year increase. Exports in this segment surged 48.9% to 38,451 units.

Goods Carrier Shows Steady Growth

Production in the goods carrier segment rose 31.4% to 13,751 units. Domestic sales climbed 25.2% to 13,271 units. Exports jumped 57.3% to 313 units compared to 199 units last year.

E-Rickshaw Production Jumps, Sales Follow

E-rickshaw production saw a sharp 110.8% increase to 1,370 units. Domestic sales rose 20.1% to 890 units from 741 units in February 2025.

E-Cart Segment Records Modest Gains

The e-cart sub-segment, the smallest in the three-wheeler industry, produced 519 units. This is a 16.9% increase from last year. Domestic sales grew 19.8% to 399 units.

Export Performance Strengthens

Total three-wheeler exports reached 38,766 units in February 2026. This represents a 49% year-on-year increase over 26,024 units exported in February 2025. Combined domestic sales and exports totaled 1,13,339 units, compared to production of 1,08,154 units.
